Prolific innovator and researcher in a wide variety of disciplines with worldwide impact.
Kartik Ariyur has spoken to a variety of audiences over the past 20 years, though predominantly on technical topics to technical audiences. He has given web talks and seminars, a TED talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCEO1XX4_z0), and a speech at the San Diego Venture Summit (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsbvLODS5p0). His public talks address the intersection of mathematics, physics and engineering on the one hand, and the humanities and social sciences on the other. He recently led a project funded by the Mellon foundation on using Big Data for Equitable Water Policy with a team of engineers, a political scientist, a communications expert, and data scientists. Some of the results of the project are published on his LinkedIn profile as policy briefs. He has published more than 50 papers, two books, and holds 17 US patents and almost as many European patents. His pilot filtering algorithms are embedded into all cell phone front ends, his engine prognostics algorithms are in most commercial APUs (auxiliary power units), and many engines of regional jets, and his detection algorithms are embedded in the LAAS (local area augmentation system).
