Donald Pell is a horticulturalist and garden designer. He founded his firm Donald Pell Gardens in 1993 in southeastern Pennsylvania where he functions as the senior designer.
Donald grew up working in his family nursery propagating nursery stock and managing field grown herbaceous plants. His initial work was as a contractor to landscape architecture firms. He has overseen private construction projects in excess of one million dollars and contracted the ongoing management of these projects.
Donald’s firm currently specializes in designing gardens that honor place and the beauty of the regional landscape. He currently leads two landscape architects and three construction managers along with administration and estimating staff. The firm purchased a 14 acre farm in 2008 that houses its offices and gardens that function to educate staff and guests.
Donald is an active member of the Perennial Plant Association and the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. He is a Certified Horticulturalist through the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association and completed a 3 year masters program in Landscape Business Management at the American Nursery and Landscape Association. He writes and lectures on his design inspiration and working with ecological succession.
Donald has also served on the Board of Trustees to Charlestown Playhouse serving a term as Treasurer and two terms as Chair where he oversaw non-profit training and strategic planning.
